The Inaugural Ceremony of the Chinese People’s Federation for World Peace – Malaysia (Pertubuhan Nilai-nilai Murni untuk Keamanan Sejagat) took place on the evening of June 14, 2019, at the Hotel Jen in Penang. Around 210 guests attended the program and banquet.
The Chief Minister of Penang, the Most Honourable Chow Kon Yeow, officiated over the inaugural ceremony as the Guest of Honour.

Other honoured guests included state executive councillors the Honourable Chong Eng and the Honourable Soon Lip Chee, Batu Uban assemblyman The Honourable A. Kumaresan, Teluk Air Tawar assemblyman the Honourable Mustafa Kamal Ahmad, and Perlis’ Indera Kayangan assemblyman the Honourable Gan Ay Ling. Also in attendance were CPFWP leaders from overseas affiliates, including mainland China, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and the United States.
Mr. Ng Shu Lin, the President of CPFWP-Malaysia, explained in his welcoming remarks that traditional Chinese culture and values can provide guidance in addressing the current social issues of family breakdown and moral confusion.
Prof. Thomas Hwang, International Adviser for CPFWP, stated that family values are an intrinsic part of Chinese culture, embedded in the DNA of all Chinese people.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said in his speech that he was inspired by CPFWP’s founding principles, which are aligned with the vision of Penang2030 in building a family focused, green and smart state that inspires the nation. Malaysia has always been known as a peace-loving country; therefore, for CPFWPM to be founded and based in Penang is unequivocally a timely decision
Before the inaugural ceremony, 18 international delegates and CPFWP-Malaysia committee members visited the Penang Botanic Gardens for a Tree Planting Ceremony to commemorate the inauguration of CPFWPM. Afterward, they paid a courtesy visit to the City Council Mayor of Penang Island, Dato’ Ar. Yew Tung Sheang. The next day, the delegates had a meaningful dinner with the speaker of Penang State Legislative Assembly, Dato’ Law Choo Kiang. The international guests expressed appreciation for the beauty and attractions of Penang.
